Palapye to host softball eliminators

PALAPYE: Motlakase Softball Club is billed to host the northern zone softball eliminators next month, which the club publicity secretary, Letsweletse Jonas said “could not have come at a better time.” Seven men and six women’s sides will battle it out to secure a spot in the Selebi-Phikwe softball extravaganza over the President’s holidays in July.

Jonas, said the hosting of the eliminators was a welcome development, which will help raise awareness about softball to the Palapye community. “These eliminations could not have come at a better time. Softball is becoming a forgotten sport in Palapye. When you talk about Motlakase, people only think of the football team. They have forgotten about us. This is an opportunity for us to leave a mark in Palapye.

“This could also encourage the Palapye business community to help grow the sport in the village. We have struggled a lot with sponsorship and this could have a positive impact,” Jonas said.
