BBS-Taung Road opens

The Lemmenyane Road between BBS Mall and Taung junction in Gaborone will be opened to motorists at 1500 hrs today, the Ministry of Works and Transport announced yesterday.

The road was closed on February 20 last year to pave way for the upgrading of the Nelson Mandela link and Lemmenyane Road to a dual carriageway standard, including a road-over-Rail-Bridge at Taung and improvements on the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport intersection.
Motorists have been advised to adhere to the 60km per hour speed limit on Lemmenyane road and abide by all other road traffic signs.
The ministry has appealed to residents, motorists and parents in the Taung, Tawana and Extension 27 areas in Gaborone to ensure public safety and keep children away from the road and the road reserve as most residences are too close to the Lemmenyane road.
Meanwhile, other developments on the rest of the project area continue.
Ministry of Works and Transport's Public Relations Officer Sam Mbaiwa explained in a statement yesterday that the public would be "informed upon their full completion".
