The victory now means the Reds have now scored 14 goals in the league this season against Prisons XI. The first round encounter ended with the same score line with Thatayaone Kgamayane scoring a hattrick. Yesterday, Kgamanyane scored a brace and took his goal tally to 17, three more than Jwaneng Galaxy striker, Thabang Sesinyi.

The other goals came from Thero Setsile (brace), Onkabetse Makgantai, Mpho Kgaswane and Ronel Manyanga. The Reds took advantage of rivals, Township Rollers’ loss to Masitaoka to increase the lead at the top of the table. GU have now collected 57 points from 23 matches with an incredible goal difference plus 44. Rollers had been breathing heavily on GU’s neck for weeks but their title chase suffered a dent on Friday when their former player, Kobamelo Kebaikanye scored a last minute goal to give his side, Masitaoka, a famous win.

Orapa United retained the third position after their 4-o win over Gilport Lions on Saturday. They have now collected 45 points from 24 games. BDF XI are fourth with the same number of points as Orapa United but with a game in hand. Matebele, as BDF XI are affectionately called by their supporters, defeated Police XI 1-0 at Otse Police College on Saturday. Sua Flamingoes took advantage of home ground by beating Extension gunners 2-0 and secured their fifth position on the log.
