Inaugural Exchange to celebrate culture

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Joy Setshedi of Joy Foundation Development revealed that through the event, they decided to go a different route and try something new from musical events in order to celebrate “our very own culture” that is on the threat of going extinct in the near future.
Setshedi explained that the idea is to host more than one ethnic groups at the event so that there is indeed that cultural exchange they are looking for. “We will be hosting different tribes from different countries with unique type of traditional dance or dances,” Setshedi said.
Furthermore, Setshedi said they would also have a storytelling activity by representatives of different ethnic groups and countries that will share their cultures. Setshedi went on to say that the storytelling will be paired with traditional dances of those ethnic groups.
She revealed that there would also be food more especially traditional cuisine foods that are linked with these different ethnic groups as she went on to say there could never be a cultural event without food on any day. Setshedi said they would also have artists who will exhibit their artworks, crafts and paintings as a way of giving them the platform to market and sell their products.
Mohumagadi Mma Matshego, who is the wife of Kgosi Kgafela of the Bakgatla, is expected to be the patron of the cultural exchange event. Meanwhile, Miss Botswana 2021, Palesa Molefe will also be expected to be part of the event as the MC alongside fashion designer and musician, Berry Heart. Tickets for the event will sell for P50 for kids, P100 for a single ticket, P150 for double and P300 for VIP.
