Despite struggling to keep pace with other title contenders at the top of the league table, Magosi are the First Division South's cash cow due to their huge following.

Since the start of the year, they have already grossed P350,802 from six home games in the league. Out of the six home games played since January, the Kgatleng derby against Matebele FC sold the most tickets and grossed P89,802.45 followed by the encounter against Union Flamengo Santos with P62,810.90. Speaking to Mmegi Sport this week, club chairperson, Victor Kobe said they intend to introduce stands in the form of scaffolds to double or triple the numbers and ultimately, income. “In the game against Notwane, we were hit by injuries which affected our performance, but our style of play has a way of capacitating the ground,” Kobe said.

The club held its general meeting last weekend where the general membership was informed that DC Tours now owns 86.5% of all the commercial rights associated with the club. He said the club holds the remaining 13.5% of the commercial rights. “This simply means all teams gate takings, merchandise and commercial rights of the team are shared in that 86.5/13.5% model.

MCC remits all gate takings to DC Tours and remains with 13.5 of the same, all merchandise sold by DC Tours is subject to remittance on the same scale to MCC,” Kobe said. After being voted into office, the current Chiefs executive committee invited all those owed by the club to submit their claims. According to Kobe, the club has received claims amounting to around P800,000 from creditors. He said the club continues to look for more sponsorship to eventually reinvest in other projects that will bring revenue to the team. “For now a gym has been opened and it is operational, a lifestyle clubhouse will be opened on the 1st of May to increase revenue and by that time we hope debt verification will be complete to allow for payments to commence. Payment plans will be made to allow for the distribution of funds,” he said.

He said the club will hold its first annual gala dinner and awards night for players and technical team a week after their last fixture of the season. Meanwhile, Kobe said they will only decide on the appointment of the permanent head coach during pre-season. Magosi has been under the tutelage of Patrick Molefe on an interim basis after the departure of Daniel Nare early this year. According to Kobe, Molefe is expected to hold fort until the end of the season with a round of four matches remaining. This weekend, Magosi will take on Security Systems in the Orange FA Cup.
