The Gamononyane-based side is yet to lose a match since the return of head coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso two months back.
Tshireletso was instrumental in helping the team gain promotion to the First Division last season but was relieved of his duties because according to the club management, he did not have the required qualifications at the time.
The club roped in Nelson Olebile who was fired last month after a string of disappointing results. Tshireletso has since acquired a CAF B Coaching Licence. Under him, VTM are yet to concede a goal. With three matches left before the end of the season, VTM now find themselves in pole position to make history. Two months back, Tshireletso said as newcomers in the league, they were not thinking about winning the title or gaining promotion to the elite league as yet. That was after they hammered Notwane 3-0. “We are not under any pressure to gain promotion.
If there is a possibility we will try our best to get there,” Tshireletso said at the time. As it stands, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Broadhurst United, and Matebejana stand in the way of VTM’s history. This Sunday, VTM take on Chiefs in what is arguably the biggest fixture of the weekend. The last time the two sides met was in the Orange FA Cup where Magosi emerged victorious.
Although they are six points behind the log leaders, mathematically Chiefs still have a slight chance to make it to at least the promotional play-off. On Wednesday, Magosi bounced back to winning ways when they beat Young Stars 1-0 in Jwaneng. In another cracking fixture scheduled for Sunday, Matebele host Notwane at The Nest.
The hosts appeared destined for an automatic promotion a few weeks back but have since surrendered their position to VTM after suffering two straight defeats in the last two matches. Both VTM and Matebele have so far collected 37 points. On Wednesday, Matebele lost 2-1 to giant killers, Tlokweng United. They now face Notwane who are only a point away from the top. Toronto registered a 2-1 win over Broadhurst United on Wednesday. After the midweek action, CRACKiT City Polar dropped to position four after suffering a 2-0 loss to Union Flamengo Santos. On Sunday, they take a trip to Mmankgodi to face URI Black Forest. Young Stars, who have lost their last two matches, will be away to Broadhurst United at the SSG Grounds.
