The Bulela Ditswe primaries will now be held over the next two Saturdays, the central committee has announced. “The party is ready to conduct fair and credible primary elections. To that end the central committee has made rather the decision to hold the primary elections over two weekends on the specific dates of July 20 and 27,” the party said in a statement. The BDP said the move is meant to allow elections officers the opportunity to take part in the elections. “It has become apparent that conducting the elections on two consecutive days would disenfranchise election officers as they would not freely participate at their respective branches as they would be helping conduct elections at other branches,” the BDP said. The central committee has divided the 61 branches into two bands. This Saturday, 35 constituencies will take part in the primaries, while on July 27, it will be the turn of the remaining 26 branches.
