After bringing Congolese singer, songwriter, dancer and producer, Koffi Olomidé, during the first edition of Kgosi Ya Mosadi Musci Concert, songbird Charma Gal has this year decided to make it a 100% local show.

The show will be held at the Molepolole Sports Complex on August 31. Addressing the media, Mega Zeep public relations officer, Pako Abedile, said this year’s line-up includes local music giants such as Vee Mampeezy, Kwasakwasa maestro Franco, Han C, Double Up, Skavenger, Culture Spears and Ancestral Ritual. He added that this time around they took the event to Molepolole Sports Complex because Charma Gal has fans across the country. He explained that most of the artists in the line-up have worked with Charma Gal while she groomed some.

“We had the first Kgosi ya Mosadi Concert, which was held in October 2022 at the National Stadium, where we invited the legendary Koffi Olomidé. This time around we are taking the event to Molepolole where we invite all Batswana and the whole of Africa, as we know she is the most followed female artist in the country,” said Abedile. “She has fans all over the country and Africa. Everything is in order, from security to people making activations. Charma Gal and her team are also rehearsing. We have done activations in pubs around Molepolole. The people there are good people, they understand and love themselves. They also love Charma Gal’s music. It heals them,” he said.

For her part, the lady of the moment, Charma Gal, said they decided to go to Molepolole because she learnt her talent from her former teacher Mogomotsi Bogosi who was their traditional song and dance coach at Lerala Primary School in 1996. At the time, Magdeline Lesolebe, as Charma Gal is known, was doing Standard Six. She explained that Bogosi taught them different traditional songs and dance styles such as tsutsube, setapa and phathise. At the time, she said they were doing what was then known as 4B. She also cited Thatayaone Phofedi from Molepolole who she met in 1998 when she was doing Form One. She said the two teachers (Bogosi and Phofedi) worked together in grooming and nurturing her talent into being the traditional dancer and singer she is today. She said the concert was a way of thanking Bakwena for their children who made her who she is today.

Additionally, Culture Spears leader Kabelo Mogwe and Kwasa kwasa musician, Franco Lesokwane promised to bring their best performances at the event to give revellers a memorable event. Tickets for the show are sold at all Choppies Stores at P100 while entrance at the gate will be P150. People are advised not to buy tickets from any other person or entity except from people listed on the page and at Choppies Stores.
