“Batswana we have been ripped off by foreigners (re jelwe ke batswakwa) and there is nothing we can do,” Khama said at a Kgotla meeting in Tlokweng yesterday.
He cited the Palapye glass project, the delayed Sir Seretse Khama International Airport renovations and the construction of Shakawe Senior Secondary School and maladministration at the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC). He said there is no hope of recovering the lost money.
He was answering a question from a Tlokweng resident, Jeffery Matlapeng, who wanted to know what was going on with the botched multi-million projects that Batswana invested a lot of money in.
Khama was accompanied by his ministers including Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Christiaan de Graaff, Peter Siele, Olebile Gaborone and other senior government officials.
