Nono to headline Son of the Soil Jazz Show

Siile told Showbiz that she is excited to be one of the musicians picked to perform at the cultural event, which has managed to attract multitudes over the years.  The three-day event, to be held at Boetelo Resort, Notwane Farm, from Friday to Sunday, has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception 10 years ago. Hence the excitement of the talented Jazz muso.

She told Showbiz that this would be her third year performing at the event. 

This year it comes at the right time, as it gives her the platform to play music from her new album, Rantshekgwane, released last October.

She promised to keep those who will grace the event a good time, assuring her fans that she planned performing songs from her latest release.  Siile revealed that, despite the album being fairly new in the market, it is doing quite well.

“I am humbled by Batswana’s positive response to my album,” she said.

She explained that besides being just a few months old, it is already creating a buzz in the local market.

“I urge Batswana to come and have fun,” she said.

She said all her albums will be on sale at the venue on both days.

 Kgalagadi Jazz Beats will coordinate the Sunday jazz show, which goes under the theme ‘Setswana Sunday Jazz’. The organisation’s Shima Monageng, who also presents The Joy of Jazz Fusion on Gabz fm said Siile would perform at 6 :00 pm, adding that Kgalagadi Jazz Beats DJs will also entertain the crowd.

“It is expected that the Sunday Jazz event would be ideal to end the three-day cultural event, which has become one of the most sought-after family and cultural events in the country,” he said.

Siile said scooping the Best Female Artist and Best Jazz Album 2014 BOMU awards, has motivated her to do more.

“These awards mean a lot to me. It shows that I am growing in music, and shows that my commitment and hard work is paying off,” she said.

While it is the first time to win a BOMU award, her album Kgarebe was nominated in 2007.

  On her latest album Siile worked with Oscar and Blessing, who have been instrumental in furthering numerous musical careers including producing different projects for the Zimbabwean legend, Oliver Mutukudzi.
