The win lifts Sankoyo to position eight in the log while Gunners drop to position nine. It was Monowe’s consecutive goal in two games having scored in their 2-1 away loss to Police at Molepolole Sports Complex last week. Gunners were without Moemedi Moatlhaping, but boosted of the services of Topo Piet and Monageng Thaele against the hard to beat at home Sankoyo Bush Bucks.
Gunners piled early pressure winning two corner kicks, but failed to hit the target. Sankoyo’s new signing from Echo City Greens, Omatla Kebatho made his debut but was replaced with Gaongalelwe Dipateletso in the second half. Sankoyo scored in the eight minute after capitalising on the Gunners’ defence error when a defender chested a back pass carelessly into the path of the alert Monowe who powered forward and slotted the easy chance past gunners goalkeeper, Lame Tladinyane.
Gunners fought hard to level matters, but to no avail. Gunners’ Piet was a constant menace in the Ngurungu defence each time he had the ball.
His most dangerous moment came when he picked Sankoyo’s goal-posts with a rocket from far afield, as the bullet thundered off the Sankoyo’s wood work, leaving the home fans shaking.
In the second half, Gunners came back strongly but chances were few and far between as Tshepo Molefe blew the vistors’ best chance of the game after failing to hit the target from a corner kick in the 47th minute.
A Sankoyo defender had carelessly headed a Monageng Thaele’s cross straight into the unmarked Molefe who fluffed it as Sankoyo’s continued with their impressive home form.
Gunners’ assistant coach, Motswadi Motswadi hoped to rectify their goal scoring problems against Letlapeng. Meanwhile Philani Mabhena, Sankoyo coach said he is happy with the three points after their loss to police the previous weekend.
