Goitse launches �Motivate A Child� campaign

The young woman from Mahalapye, popularly known only by her first name, Goitse, from Big Brother Hotshots, is confident that she can influence young girls in a positive way. Her campaign, which she hopes to grow in future, targets girls between the ages of 12 and 20. Goitse, when talking about her campaign, lights up and radiates passion.
Previously, she embarked on a similar project with a local female rapper, Kgomotso “Cici” Molapata. Before she went to South Africa to participate in the Big Brother Africa reality show, she partnered with Cici and started a project titled “Rap Your Dance Out”, where they used the power of music and dance to motivate the youth. The duo had a session with students of Maoka Junior Secondary School last year, before Goitse became a participant in Big Brother Hotshots.
After taking part in the reality show, she still found herself having a nagging feeling to help the young people, embrace positive lifestyles. She said she was motivated further to come up with the campaign after a number of people, including her fans known as the “Gladiators”, approached and asked her to give motivational talks and serve as a role model to young girls.
Goitse said she received an invitation from Morama Junior Secondary School to talk to students. She said after trying to get sponsorship to no avail, she and her team decided to sponsor the trip. The trip proved fruitful for her, as she got raving reviews, and started receiving more invitations from other acaddemic institutions, including schools in the Francistown area. Unfortunately, her mission hit a snag momentarily because of lack of sponsorship. To raise funds for her campaign, Goitse will host a Gala Dinner at Phakalane Golf Estate on September 12.
The campaign, hopefully, will raise enough money to enable the dancer and poet, to carry out her mission of encouraging young minds to concentrate on their studies, and not to engage in deviant behaviour. She expressed concern that the youth were exposed to many things that include pressure to attain material possessions, resulting in girls dating old men, usually referred to as sugar daddies.
Goitse will recite poems at the gala dinner, as well as share personal experiences she has never shared before. Her poetry will be in line with her campaign.
She is in the process of establishing a foundation – to be known as Kgaswane Foundation. The foundation will assist the youth realise their potential, and not fall into the trap of alcohol and substance abuse and other kinds of deviance.
