In a first for any music album, Charma Gal has been honoured with two nominations for Song of the Year, perhaps underlining just how excellent her songs have been. Both the title track Sekuta, and Hardrock are contenders for the Song of the Year, in a category where former Mystar contestant Amantle’s impressive hit, Moratiwa, is also a contender, along with MMP Family’s Lebala ka nna, released two years ago, as well as Kopisa by Gaone. Sekuta also sees Charma Gal contesting for Best Moisakos, Best Female artist and Album of the Year gongs, although one could argue that her music also fits well in the afro-pop and rumba categories.
Newcomer Amantle, the former my star contestant is also featuring heavily in this year’s awards with another five nominations, along with kwaito group MMP Family, who are nevertheless contesting with their two-year old album that also featured in the last year’s awards.
Amantle for her bright start in her music career has been nominated for: song of the year, album of the year, Best newcomer, Best Female artist and Best R N B. Last year’s multiple award winner DJ Oats has also notched three nominations in Best DJ, Best Producer, Best House while Fondo Fire has three nominations for Best Single, Best DJ and Best House.
Kwaito group, MMP Family have been nominated for Best Male Artist, Song of the Year, Best Kwaito, Album of the Year, Best Group.
