Various works of poetry and images of poets will be featured in various materials and forms to promote World Poetry Day. Botswana poets will also showcase various forms of poetry on the day. Objectives of world poetry day are to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities.
The Black African Poets Organisation was established in 2008. The organisation was then focused more on providing corporate performances such as folk poetry, traditional instruments such as katara, segaba, setinkane, nkokwane to mention but a few.
The Black African Poets Organisation seeks to, amongst other things, develop resource-base for Batswana poets and poetry in the digital space, which will include formation on reading in the public readership.
In addition, The Black African Poets Organisation is focused on intent to explore and promote publishing opportunities for local poets, organise local poetry festivals that will promote local poets and improve opportunities for professional development in the favour of Batswana poets.
Moreover, The Black African Poets Organisation seeks to organise regular poetry events in collaboration with other writing organisations to increase the poet’s engagement with the broader public relation readership.
