According to BOPEU’s claim, Leoketsa, Motsamai’s right hand man who quit their employ the same week the latter was fired from Babereki Investments, had not been servicing the car loan since he resigned from the organisation.
The car was registered under Leoketsa’s wife, and on Tuesday BOPEU’s efforts to pursue the debt bore fruit as Leoketsa told the Court he was ready to work out an out of court settlement with his former employers regarding the payment plan.
A relieved BOPEU Secretary General Topius Marenga told Mmegi that BOPEU’s lawyers reached an agreement with Leoketsa in the form of a Court Order, for the settlement of the debt. Yesterday, before Justice Michael Leburu, BOPEU showed the intension to defend against a P2 million liability claim from Boditse Pty LTD, a former supplier of cellphones and electronics to Future Sustain, a company in which BOPEU was a shareholder.
BOPEU are fighting to nullify the contract they alleged was signed by the former chairperson of BOPEU’s business wing, Motsamai, without the blessing of the Board.
If not fought successfully, the contract allows Boditse to cash from BOPEU up to P2 million without asking questions or interrogating what the payment is for. Judgement was reserved for September 15.
