The 23-year-old woman from Rasesa, Ntebogang Malinda, was born with a condition called scoliosis. This condition causes the spine to curve to the side. It can affect any part of the spine, but most common regions are the chest area (thoracic scoliosis) and lower section of the back (lumber scoliosis). (www.medicalnewstoday.com). Malinda has been using a wheel chair since she was twoyears-old.

GasLee Communications, founded and owned by gospel singer Gaselarona ‘GasLee’ Sikwa, has previously recorded albums for two people living with disability namely Annafiki Ditau and Nkgagisang ‘Short Man’ France.

Malinda said while she only managed to record her debut album recently through the assistance of GasLee Communications, she has been singing since she was a little girl.

“I started singing when I was in primary school, and continued through junior secondary school,” she said.

She said she met a friend who suggested that she should approach Sikwa about the possibility of recording an album. She said after the friend introduced her to Sikwa, he agreed to record her album.  She said people always told her that she had singing talent, but she never looked at it as something she can use to sustain herself, until she was introduced to Sikwa.

Malinda’s album titled Nka Ya Kae?  has six melodious gospel tunes being the title track Nka Ya Kae?, Makomborero, Rock of Ages, Ke Wena, Tshela Moya and Wa  Tshephahala. The album will most definitely appeal to music lovers, especially followers of the gospel genre.

Malinda told Showbiz that she writes her own lyrics.

Malinda appealed to Batswana to support her, adding that she has dreams of becoming a big star, and performing with the best around the world.

“Mr. Sikwa told me I have potential of becoming an international star,” she said.

GasLee Communications received a donation of P10,000, to assist with the project from Orthosurge.

Sikwa said he was amazed by Malinda’s singing talent, and immediately decided to do something about it.

“The young woman can sing, she has a beautiful voice,” Sikwa said.
