A new kid in the music industry who goes by the stage name SHVE BEATZ, has paid homage to his late father, Thaba with an Extended Play (EP) titled THVBVSON.

The 20-year-old, who is also a music producer, explained in an interview withArts&Culture that THVBVSON translates to ‘The son of Thaba. Born Kemang Bojosi, he explained the EP was released on August 18. He said he produced the entire project except for mixing and mastering, which were handled by Pro Lanez at Mollo Records. He added that he designed the cover artwork alongside Dimolemo Tyke and Cartoonplug. “The EP features seven tracks packed with a diverse line-up of talent. In this EP, I worked with talented artists like RockaFella Uni, Jack Diasoh, Veezo View, Capital G, Q-Vo Pikasso, ICE D, Teezy Jrc, Kaytee, DintleOnTheTrack, and Br3nt.

That is a dope cast of new blood if you ask me. Each artist brings their unique style to the table, ensuring that there is something for everyone. The inspiration behind the making of the EP was all about bringing together artists that are perfect and good at doing their craft to make good music that can keep the Botswana Hip Hop scene active and that is how it came about,” he said. He explained that he chose the featured artists because they were dominant in their sub genres like Rockafella and Jackalss. He said he put them in the intro because he knew they would bring those motivational and inspirational lyrics that would be perfect for an intro and the beat type being a street gospel type.

Track six featuring Dintle and Br3nt is an Afrobeat song. Furthermore, he said this is his fourth year in the industry. “What makes this EP special is that I made it in a way that I was trying to cater for everybody because from the seven tracks, there are four genres and also there is a special and unique style incorporated within the songs. Lack of media coverage to help in promoting the music has been a challenge more especially for upcoming artists like us,” he said. He also explained that the locals listen to more outside music than their music saying they do not want to give local music a chance but only to mention a few of them and therefore killing new talent.
