Magosi finally return home

The Kgatleng giants won by a solitary goal to stay on course for a return to the Premier League. Magosi last played at the ground over 25 years ago before they rose to stardom and went on to win four Premier League titles. Since they were relegated to the lower division, Magosi have been playing most of their home matches in Ramonaka. Recently they hosted some of their games at Mochudi Rovers ground.
The club management recently admitted that playing their home matches far away from their home ground negatively affected the attendance of their matches. The club’s spokesperson, Jabu Mookodi has said the club's return to its home ground was filled with mixed emotions. He said on the positive side, the feeling was out of this world and rekindled good memories for those who were there at the time.
He also said the return also brought memories of those who have since passed on, who were part of the team when it was playing at the venue years ago. He said they are planning to turn the ground into a 'slaughterhouse' and win every single match there. He also said the ground will turn their fortunes of revenue. 'Our ordinary supporters will be able to attend matches in large numbers.
The icing on the cake was that we were able to win our first match there,' he said. He also confirmed that the players were given a pleasant surprise at the end of their match against Red Sparks in the form of bonuses.
The players reportedly received P200 each from a company called Lacarina Investments because of their performance on the day. 'Our club continues to attract people and we are open to suitors who can come in and partner with this club,' Mookodi said. The victory against Red Sparks has put Magosi on the fourth spot with 19 points, seven points behind log leaders, URI Black Forest. The Debswana First Division South goes on a break following the wrapping up of the first round last weekend.
The second round, which starts on March 12, looks set to be a thrilling lap with at least six teams in the race for promotion. The league management has cited COVID-19 booster vaccination as the reason for the postponement of matches. Black Forest have opened a three-point gap at the top ahead of second placed Holy Ghost.
Broadhurst United are sitting at position three with 20 points while Chiefs and Tlokweng United are fourth and fifth on the log with 19 points each. Matebele FC and Matebejana are not far off with 18 and 17 points respectively. Meanwhile, Motaung Young Fighters’ destiny appears settled, having collected only three points from 11 matches. Red Sparks are also facing danger with five points.
