Premier League sides gear up for next season

Gaborone United (GU) dominated the show last season, winning the league title and the Orange FA Cup. Immediately after the end of the season, Masitaoka announced the release of a number of players including once feared striker, Patrick Kaunda.
After doing relatively well as new comers in the elite league, the Molepolole side look set to freshen up their squad to help them improve on last season’s performance. Although they are still embroiled in boardroom wars with the Botswana Football League (BFL) as well as the Botswana Football Association (BFA) over Onkarabile Ratanang saga, Township Rollers are said to be looking to beef up their team after failing to win a silverware last season.
The former national champions are currently awaiting their verdict on the Ratanang issue who was declared a defaulter by the Players’ Status Committee. However, reports are that they are likely to announce a big name signing in few days.
Former Zebras striker, Mogakolodi Ngele is said to be close to returning to the club after parting ways with his South African Premiership side, Chippa United. Rollers were struggling to score goals last season and Ngele’s arrival is expected to give them a boost. In another development, Orapa United have already started bolstering their squad after announcing the signing of Koketso Majafi from Masitaoka as well as made their first big signing when they announced the arrival of Namibian striker, Isakar Gurirab.
The former Mascom Top 8 champions have already started their pre-season training although head coach, Mogomotsi Mpote was still busy with the national team at the COSAFA Cup. They have also managed to retain some of their best players with Lesenya Malapela and Thato Seagateng signing new contracts. National champions, GU are also said to be looking to add few more players into the already quality side with the CAF Champions League campaign in sight.
The club has been linked with Zebras exciting midfielder, Mothusi Cooper. Retired striker, Joel Mogorosi is said to be on his way to join the club’s technical team. Security Systems, who have enjoyed a great season, are also looking to build on last season’s success and have been boosted by reports that left back, Benson Mangolo has decided to stay at the club. The exciting full back was said to be on the wanted list of some Premier League sides after some great performances last season.
