Swing by the 19th Hole?

Swing by the 19th Hole?

It is the 19th Hole of golf after playing or being on an 18 holes course. So ideally, it’s an extra or final hole after the final hole. Very quirky naming of a restaurant at a Golf club.

My guests and I were ushered to a beautifully set table, with heaters that were switched on as soon as we took our seats.

Each seat had a fleece blanket which I personally found to be very thoughtful. As the sun dipped, we watched the sunset in the distance and settled in as the conversation began to flow on the terrace with ambient music.

We were received by Bakang, who was very pleasant and introduced us to Juls our waitress as well as Lucas the floor manager. All of whom were ready to offer us any additional information we may need through the evening. I used to love sushi nights at the establishment and so I was very eager to find out what specials currently run which are meant to appeal to individuals who aren’t coming off the golf course. Mondays – Rib Night, Wednesday – Buy 1 Pizza & Get a Free Margarita Pizza, Thursday & Friday is Happy hour between 18:00-20:00, Saturday is a Burger special.

The menu is easy going and most of the food can be ready quickly which I believe serves the golfers well after a long day spent on the course but also gives non-golf patrons convenience. Wings are always a great choice for a starter as they are not too meaty, but carry you and keep one appetite content until their mains arrive.

The wings were deliciously saucy and served with a green salad. Some rolls would be a good addition to give one an option to mop up that tasty sauce in my observation. The bartender on shift made some great cocktails.

One which particularly intrigued me was the Tom Collins; a classic cocktail from 1876 made up of gin, lemon juice, syrup and a drop of soda.

My two guests and I ordered three different mains. I considered a chicken burger because I never order burgers when eating out, and thought to just go against my own dining ethos once. It’s weird because burgers are one of my go to meals at home. They only offered beef burger though and that’s still a no go for me. I opted for the Chicken Stir Fry instead, which has a beef and vegetable variation.

The menu is diverse and caters to different needs, wants, palate preferences and health requirement. My stir fry hit the spot, although not very oriental (which might be a common misconception of stir-fry), it really checked off all the boxes.

The great thing about Chicken Stir Fry, is that it’s pretty all inclusive — you’ve got protein, vegetables, and a sauce all in one dish. The crunchy veggies were also very delectable. My two guests’ mains were Lamb Chops, ordered medium rare and the portions were very generous.

The restaurant opens early morning at 0600 for breakfast and breakfast meetings while the last order is taken at 2200. The menu is printed on paper for easy recycling and one time use which assists in reducing the spread of COVID-19 through the sharing of menus. Whether or not you are a golfer, the 19th Hole deserves a swing.
