The gig is a mastermind of Botswana’s very own international DJ and Uthando hit maker, DJ Ngwazi who returns to his home village, Thamaga this coming independence holidays for a homecoming concert. The festival, which promises to be a banger looking at the line-up, is slated for September 30, 2022.
After months since it was first announced, an official launch party was held this past Saturday as part of the organiser’s plan to hype up the mood around the gig. It was really was a picturesque atmosphere as a high number of revellers graced the launch party, with many showing interest as to where they could get the festival tickets as well as the merchandise.
To entertain the crowd, the festival organisers had lined up Ancestral Rituals, FME DJs and Romeo Tha Medley.
And indeed, the entertainers did not fail as they ensured that revellers got a feel of what the actual festival promises to offer. Ancestral Rituals, who were first to perform, turned it on from the word go with a set that lasted for more than an hour.
The house duo’s electrifying performance rocked the crowd. It was like their energy on stage had somehow descended on the crowd as everyone could not stop dancing. Other revellers were left in awe as the Drummer thumped the drums, very much in sink with the DJ’s touches on the decks. Furthemore, it was a simply gratifying performance from Ancestral Rituals, further showing why they are among the most loved group in the country.
The duo’s set ended just after 8pm, leaving the crowd asking for more. But it was not the end of fun as FME DJs and Romeo Tha Medley took over to continue the entertainment. Just like Ancestral Rituals, FME DJs did not disappoint.
They also brought some energy on the stage and tried a lot to maintain the same momentum set by their predecessor, much to the appreciation of the revellers. It was the local boy Romeo Tha Medley who brought the party to a close with a beautiful display of his own.
As a local, he really played for the crowd. His set had a selection of your current trending hits, bringing an end to what was an amazing launch party for Umnandi Ekhaya Musik Fest. The attendance at the launch party now mounts pressure on the organisers to ramp up the issue of tickets, which are yet to get on sale.
