The event had started earlier on the day but as the hours melted away, revellers still danced with the same passion and energy waiting for Oscar Mbo to hit the decks.
Oscar Mbo finally hit the stage just after 10pm and he started what would later be a long, crazy, emotional ride with distinctive encounters and endless memories. Full name Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu, the South African DJ creates and plays house music within its sub-genres of deep/soulful house, nu-jazz, chill-out, lounge and break-beats.
He is best known for his founding and starring roles in the podcast, The Ashmed Hour show. He is the founder and one of the creatives at Golden Boys Entertainment. During his set, Oscar Mbo did what he does best, make people dance. He had his own unique energy circling around, grabbing fans to the dance floor.
The music lovers were eager and receptive so Oscar Mbo gave them what they wanted, a good time. With an all black theme, the revellers dressed for the occasion, combined with their true love for deep house and electronic music. From the bright lights to the beautiful surrounds of the Game City Rooftop Terrace, the event was a haven for music fans.
The music gave the body and spirit a chance to dance like they never did before. In the VIP area, ears and eyes were nourished by the setup as the soul was transported to another dimension. In a continuous fruition, Oscar Mbo’s magic on the decks opened a space dedicated only to expression and fun.
For those who had just arrived, it was a welcoming sight as Oscar Mbo’s performance filled the atmosphere and guided revellers along the path to euphoria. Besides Oscar Mbo, the festival featured a line-up of the biggest and brightest from across genres house music.
There were veterans and exciting new talent from house and techno’s vibrant industry. After Oscar Mbo, a line-up of DJs did their best to pick up where he left off but it was Benny T who almost matched the standard as he closed the show as the last act. It was just after 3AM but Benny T left fans who clearly wanted to party the night away begging for more. “Benny we want to party,” shouted the fans as Benny T put away his headphones.
Considering this was the first edition of the event, this could become one of the most celebrated house and techno festivals in Botswana in the next few years. The event was sponsored by Mexican premium beer Corona Extra, which is among the fastest growing brand in Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL).
The brand, which has become fashionable in Gaborone, was first brewed in 1925 at the Cervecería Modelo in Mexico City, Mexico. Corona is a premium beer, classic and authentic, recognised worldwide for its high quality, distinctive taste and image. Born in Mexico and brought up on the beach, Corona is lighter than traditional beer, with a crisp and refreshing taste.
