She said the tourists have been her frequent buyers. Zwani also said she sold close to 100 copies during the book tour, which was opened to the public at Cresta Mowana Safari Resort & Spa in Kasane on July 16.
The tour continued to Maun last week from 20-22 at the Duck Café, Kwa Ga Ncinci, Dusty Donkey and Okavango Brewery respectively. Kasane is Zwani’s third contemporary story that follows the life of a young lady, Tori, as she starts an adventure in Kasane.
The place is described as a home to one of the world’s hidden wonders. In this taut thriller, Tori forms new friendships, reconnects with old acquaintances and creates unbreakable bonds while trying to solve a mind boggling mystery that lurks in Chobe.
In an interview about the book tour, Zwani told Arts & culture that before Kasane books arrived, they had done 200 pre-orders for both locals and tourists across the country. She said that the book tours held in Kasane and Maun respectively attracted a lot of people including international tourists and sold out all of the books she was carrying. She said so far they have printed 400 copies for the whole book tour.
Zwani also shared that her next tour will be scheduled this weekend in Gaborone at Big Sip Co on Friday and Saturday at Exclusive book. She anticipated that the tour for the two different venues in the capital city will attract more of her followers.
She added: “It will be a little session and everyone who has already read the book can come and mingle. We chat a little about the book and sell signed copies of the same book,' said Zwani.
She further said the tour would continue here (Francistown) at Thorn Tree on August 6.
She explained that most of her family and friends reside in the second city where the book tour this side would have a little twist. She explained that there will be a mini celebration of her little achievement and hoped that there will be a representation from the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) as the sponsor and the city leadership to mark the milestone celebrations.
When speaking about the book, she said she wrote about Kasane when she fell in love with the place back in 2018. She added: “It was never the right time to move there, so I decided to take on Tori’s story as she lives my dream.” The writer described herself as a warm-hearted wordsmith and publisher who has successfully fused her craft with her desire to encourage hope and uplift their African youth.
Shortly after her homecoming to Botswana, after acquiring her Degree in Journalism from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia, Zwani filled a temporary position as the transcriber for a counsellor at a non-government organisation that deals with sexually transmitted diseases.
During her tenure as a transcriber for a counselor, Zwani noticed that most of the counsellor's patients were young adolescents and realised that a vast number of African children direly lack emotional support. Zwani then was stirred to reach out and help the best she knew how.
According to the talented autho, an amalgamation of an authentic plot and relatable characters in a fetching psychological thriller, The Shrink which is Zwani's debut novel that inspires hope in adolescents dealing with similar issues to those of the characters, and it certainly delivers a tremendous dose of perspective into the reality of the challenges facing many of Africa's youth. Zwani has also written a book titled Hope.
