Seetso is now ranked 271 after playing the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Durban, South Africa last week.
Youri also reached a career-high ranking of 376 after reaching the semi-finals of the ITF Grade 2 at the same venue. Seetso and Youri are now competing in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Botswana Tennis Association president, Oaitse Thipe told Mmegi Sport that Seetso is playing three ITF tournaments in Harare. “If Seetso does well, he will qualify for the Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship to be played in Miami.
This is one of the most important and prestigious junior tennis tournaments in the world. Together with Ekua, they stand a chance to play the Junior Australian Open,” he said.
Thipe said it will be a great achievement to have Botswana players playing in the Grand Slam for the first time as this will inspire other youngsters such as Mark Nawa, Naledi Raguin and Chelsea Changanyuka.
