Waffles on a Stick

Waffles on a Stick

They open all week, Monday to Thursday 10am to 8pm. On weekends they are open from 10am to 10pm.

This allows for various activities to take place, walk-ins, tournaments, group birthday sessions, play dates, team building and more. What sets this spot apart from the rest is that they are very family oriented. Parents can feel safe dropping their kids off while they run errands in and around the mall or when they want grown up time at another eatery.

Should the service need to be extended, there is an hourly rate. Hashtag Café has found a niche in the gaming and entertainment space. With a vision to open nationwide, they have a small but exciting menu, which again caters to the whole family and various groups who might come in at different times of the day.

The menu is currently very competitive. This might be significantly so because they are “new”, however, they aim to keep prices family friendly. Food ranges from between P20 and P40. Favourites on the menu are the Burger Meal (Meaty Burgers Patty, Salad and Fries), waffles/waffles on a stick, slushies and lots and lots of ice cream and frozen yogurt to choose from.

These guys are selling: clean good fun for kids and parents, accompanied by simple food. Games include play stations, pool, fooseball, table hockey and a number of board games, such as monopoly, 30 seconds, jenga, cards and colouring for kids Adult beverages are also available for grown ups who also have an opportunity to let the kid in them out to play. Fast becoming a popular spot as schools are closed and its holidays, the kids come out to play and since parents are continually trying to get the kids out of the house and away from devices, this interactive, recreational lounge is great for person to person interactions and socialising in real life and not on “the socials”. The mood is just perfect at Hashtag Café; its spacious, colourful and catchy, you can’t ignore it.

Tucked under the escalators at Mowana mall, there’s a great sense of safety and exclusivity. I watched them make my waffles on a stick. I believe it’s always fascinating watching your food being made. The waffles are crispy and fluffy, the stick again brings out a playful fun side in you

. Drizzled in a choice of chocolate, banana or strawberry sauce, these one of a kind waffles are addictive. The boys had the beef burgers and hotdogs. The burgers were meaty, packing flavour with wholesome buns that gave the burger aesthetic appeal. Caramelised onions a little spinach and delicious sauce. They are a definite go to.

The Hotdog was very meaty with a well done wors but more onions would be appreciated for that wholesome hotdog. All the food is made using an Air Fryer, pretty neat as that is quite a healthy alternative way of cooking that avoids using oil. On the topic of healthy, they also serve eggless waffles for those who have an egg allergy.

I commend this attempt at inclusivity. All these yummy foods can be washed down with slushies, milkshakes or fruit smoothies. I didn’t get to taste the Peri Peri chicken pie. I look forward to that as someone that doesn't eat red meat, and I also have a big soft spot for Chicken Peri Peri pies. I felt left out on the savoury end.

Other pies on the menu are “the popular” ones, to the point, Steak and Kidney, Pepper Steak and Cornish. Bring your mates out to Hashtag Café. Bring the kids out to Hashtag Café. It’s a great super affordable vibe. The kids can even use their pocket money because it’s that affordable. Something else that stood out for me, which I believe is special, is people being introduced and learning new games!
