Local creatives nominated for Zikomo awards

Zikomo Africa Awards is an International Award ceremony that acknowledges and celebrates individuals and organisations contributing positively and doing well in various industries such as art and entrepreneurship.

The annual awards will be hosted in Zambia for the second time in a row.

Botswana boasts an impressive number of nominations with popular names such as William Last KRM and Samantha Mogwe nominated for more than one category. William Last KRM has the most nominations after being nominated for Best Comedian East & Southern Africa, Best Content Creator of the Year, Best Music Video of the Year East & Southern Africa for his Tinto video and Song Writer of the Year.

Motsetserepa, as William Last KRM is known has had good three years since the release of his first album.

The Tinto hitmaker managed to win the Best Newcomer award at the BOMU awards in 2021 as well as the Best International Act during the South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHAs).

He was also nominated for several awards during the previous Yarona FM Awards otherwise known as the YAMAs.

Samantha Mogwe has been nominated under two categories: Best Afrocharts Artist of the Year Africa and Best Artist of the Year Southern Africa. Ubuntu Band has been nominated for Best Music Duo/Band of the Year Africa as well as Best song of the Year with their hit Ngwana Msetsana.

Radio personality Khumo Khwaadira also got two nominations for Best dressed Media Personality and Best Radio personality of the Year Africa.

Other nominees include DJ Carter for Best Male Club DJ of the Year Africa, Kagiso Sento (Best Social Media Personality of the Year Africa), Kalima Mipata (Best Prof Dancer/ Dancing Group) Miss Louissa (Best Choreographer), Gonna Elvis (Best Photographer), Kakanyetso Gabatshwane (Best Female Model of the Year), Natasha Proctor Best Makeup artists), Miz Dawn (Best Music Promoter) while Paula Otukile, Shawn Ramopione and Lame Pusetso have been nominated for Best Author of the Year Africa award.

The Zikomo Africa Awards also recognise humanitarians who are contributing well by helping the needy in communities. Nominees are voted for via the Zikomo website www.zikomoawards.com in different categories by the public in Zambia and across the continent. Voting lines close on October 6.
