BFL General Assembly postponed

A statement from the BFL chief executive officer (CEO), Solomon Ramochotlhwane says a new date for the assembly will be communicated in due course.
The general assembly was among other things expected to shed light on the issue of sponsorship for the league and pave way for the upcoming season. According to Ramochotlhwane, the postponement was occasioned by numerous factors among them the conclusion of the league membership composition. The issue of the league membership composition is still a hot potato following the First Instance Body’s (FIB) decision to decline five Premier League sides, Extension Gunners, Morupule Wanderers, Masitaoka, Eleven Angels and Mogoditshane Fighters’ applications for licenses.
The five clubs have reportedly failed to meet the club licensing requirements and had their appeals rejected as well. Speaking to journalists last week, the Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer (CEO), Mfolo Mfolo said the five clubs failed to meet the requirements despite being taken through the core work before the FIB made the adjudication.
He, however, revealed that the association’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has since sent prayers to the licensing body to give the five clubs a second chance.
He said it was up to FIB to agree or decline the request. In the prayers, the NEC has requested that the five clubs be given five days to correct or submit any missing information in their license applications and pay P15,000 fine. By press time yesterday, Mfolo said the association was yet to receive a response from the licensing body. In the event that the licensing body rejects the BFA NEC’s request, the composition of the league will now be reduced to 11 teams.
