The move follows an announcement over new plans for a festival dubbed Vee Mampeezy’s Last Man Standing billed for December 10 at the National Stadium. The Taku-Taku hitmaker announced in January that he will host the one-man show titled 'Re Thibisa Lebala Thii!' on September 29.
However, ever since he launched 'Re Thibisa Lebala Thii!', there has been no update on the event, casting doubts on whether the musician is still going through with his plan. Now, after announcing a new show just a week before September 29, the musician explained to Arts & Culture that the newly announced show is an upgrade from the one initially planned.
“We have not ditched the festival but rather postponed it as I wanted to upgrade it into something bigger. I wanted to move from the one-man show and do an inclusive festival.
Vee Mampeezy said the new show, which he announced on Monday through his Facebook page is meant to empower his peers in the creative industry by filling up the National Stadium and performing alongside them. He also stated that he wanted to do something real and solid and not just make empty promises but delivered on them.
“Remember last time I said we will donate 10% to charity organisations, but you wouldn’t know how much was donated. But with this one, I’m being specific that I'll help build a house for a less privileged member of the society and also buy a seven-seater car for the best performing upcoming local artist. This is real,” he added.
He said the event will also showcase masterpieces and performances from all minority groups from across the country.
Earlier this year, Vee Mampeezy was also forced to pull out of a planned one-man show that Gilbert Promotions organised.
The planned show had received criticism and divided opinion among Batswana as they felt that he had copied ATI’s music concept while others felt there are better artists such as Franco, ATI, and Charma Gal who can pull it off ahead of the Letlhale hitmaker.
