DJ Ngwazi, who returns to his home village Thamaga over the holidays for a homecoming concert, has organised what is probably the biggest gig of his career on September 30, Independence Day.

Speaking during a press conference at Molapo Showcase on Monday, the 'Uthando' hitmaker said he would drop a new song hours before the start of the festival.

This, he said, is to give his followers and patrons something new to look forward to at the show.

“I’m bringing something to Thamaga that has never happened in this country for Independence Day. Just new things. And also, at the same time, I’m dropping a new song on Friday (the day of the event). September 30 should be declared my day. I’m dropping another song with Nokwazi so that as people are driving through to the event, they also enjoy the new song,” he said.

DJ Ngwazi, signed under Master KG's stable Wanitwa Mos, currently has one song, Uthando. The song was released in 2020 and instantly shot him to stardom. He recently featured in another track with Vee Mampeezy titled Moya.

Meanwhile, DJ Ngwazi said they will add two more South African artists to their already massive roster before the event.

The festival already boasts heavyweights such as Makhadzi, Master KG, Prince Benza, DJ Ngwazi, Mthunzi, Prince Bulo, Mapara A Jazz, Lowsheen, Biodizzy, DJ Coach Tsekeleke, DJ Busco, and Tsarowdrumbeat. Franco and Afro Musica and Vee Mampeezy lead a host of local artists who will also perform at the show.
