The talented singer officially premiered her extended airplay (EP) titled VII, on September 22, 2022. Prior to that, there was a listening session of the EP held at Avani Resort to take stakeholders on board about her new release. She said the title was inspired by the significance of the number seven which is a holy figure that represents completion or divine fulfillment. This eight track EP brings a striking and fun fusion of Neo-Soul/RnB, Afro-Beat and Trap-Soul.
Samantha Mogwe said the title VII is a holy number that often represents completion or divine fulfillment. “It is a powerful number that symbolises a person’s inner wisdom, self-awareness, and intuition. Biblically, seven is tied to the foundation of the Word of God and to the completion of His Creation,” she said. Samantha Mogwe added: “I chose this title for my EP because I felt like I have come full circle, learning new aspects of putting a body of work together, not being afraid to try out new things and having more creative control. I feel complete, almost as if it’s the beginning of something new, something spectacular and I cannot wait to see where this new season leads me”.
She said she executively produced the EP alongside KD Bangers as they took time adding and subtracting sounds and concepts until they landed on ones that worked. On this EP, she features songstress Mpho Sebina and the very talented Jordan Moozy, who added their own special touch to the songs that they feature on. She said the message of the EP is delicately woven through the messaging of the songs.
Songs include Seven, Not the same, Fade away, Oxygen, Marang, No holding back, More of you and Beautiful. The EP VII will be distributed across all digital platforms which include Spotify, AppleMusic, iTunes, Instagram/Facebook, TikTok/Resso/Luna, YouTubeMusic, Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, iHeartRadio, ClaroMusica, Saavn, Boomplay, Anghami, KKBox, NetEase, Tencent, Qobuz, Triller (beta), Joox, Kuack Media (beta), Yandex Music (beta), Adaptr (beta), MediaNe.
