Mamaloukos eyes rare double

The young biker is seeking to get into an elite class of local riders that includes the celebrated Ross Branch, to become the BMS national double champion. Mamaloukos finished first in the OR3 class in the off-road championship and earned enough points to become the national off-road champion.
This weekend, Mamaloukos is among a group raring to go for the last two rounds of the BMS national motocross championship to be held in Orapa.
The championship round five and six are to be held in Orapa and promises to bring all the thrills to adrenaline enthusiasts. Riding in the MX2 class, Mamaloukos, however, faces stiff competition from the junior off-road champion, Radikolo Linchwe.
The youngster has been ever-present in this season's championship. Ahead of the season finale, Linchwe leads the 850cc class in motocross. Despite competing in separate classes, the two bikers have enjoyed some rivalry for the overall championship honours. This season, the BMS recorded some of the lowest numbers of participants as some of the elite bikers opted against competing in the championship. Some bikers competed in fewer rounds of the championship and had fallen off the race to the national championship.
Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, Mamaloukos acknowledged the pressure ahead of the final rounds. He, however, hopes to avoid slip-ups and write his name alongside some of the country’s best. “I cannot deny it, the pressure is high. However, it has dropped as opposed to the mid-year when our point standings were mixed up. It was not clear who will be in the lead.
I also did not finish round one. However, I managed to recover. So it is all training and staying consistent. I am going into these rounds 100% focused and determined to win and as always.
I will give it my ultimate best and see what we get from it,” Mamaloukos said. As per current standings, Andre Kruger leads the MX1 while Tadiwa Tafa is in pole position in the MX Ladies class. Zameer Bodhaya is leading the High School class while Zibo Moabi is at the top of the 50cc class rankings.
