DJ Ngwazi dominates BOMU awards

The South African-based Motswana DJ Ngwazi was nominated for seven categories for this year’s awards. He was also nominated for Best Dance Music, Album of the Year, Best Newcomer, Best Male, Best Video for his song Uthando, Best Collaboration as well as Song of the Year Award.
The 30-year-old Thamaga born went home with awards for Best Dance Music, Best Newcomer, Best Video and Best Collaboration. “It's God's grace and the hard work I have been putting in. I expected it because I have been working hard and have the biggest music.
These awards show that everything is possible. You can do it if you put your mind to it, no matter what. I’m an example; here I am today, the winning Best Newcomer at the age of 30. I manifested this,” said DJ Ngwazi when receiving one of his awards.
From playing at bars in Thamaga, to touring the world with Master KG, DJ Ngwazi has an amazing story. He is playing to capacity crowds at enormous venues. He is deejaying everywhere from Southern to West Africa as well as beyond the continent.
The artist from Thamaga recently hosted his homecoming concert, Kumnandi Ekhaya Music Fest in his native village. His career path has been on an upward tide. His song, Uthando featuring Master KG has been a hit among the local fans.
He also released another song on the eve of his festival titled Ngisize Nami. He has also worked with Vee Mampeezy on another song called Moya. Other notable winners include Kabelo Tiro aka Scavenger who took home the Song of the Year award with his song, Ba ga Mmangwato. Mpho Sebina tied at three awards with Boago Fenju.
Mpho Sebina took home the Album of the Year (Lora), Best RnB and Best International Achievement while Boago Fenju’s awards include Best Contemporary Gospel Music, Best Package and Best Female.
Baxon scooped the Hip Hop award while Khoza Mkhozeni got the Disco and Best Male artist awards. Eskimos also put their recent 23rd anniversary show disappointment behind them to win two awards for Best group and Best Kwaito. The other winners include Mafoko (Best single - Tsotsi ya phura), Monnamogolo (Best Folk Music), Ezra Neethings (Best Afro Pop), Wizards (Best House Kwasa) Slizer (Best Kwasa Kwasa), Charma Gal (Best Compilation), Latty (Best Remix), Thabang Garogwe (Best jazz), Ditiro Leero (Best Traditional), Matheke Leteane (Best Traditional Gospel) and Fella (Best Producer). Meanwhile, Phempheretlhe Bafana Pheto was recognised with the Chairman's award for his contribution and pioneering role in the music industry while producers Drak, Bang gae, Bullet Ketshabile and Earnest Ketshabile won the President’s Award.
