Stanbic Bank has been Rollers' premier sponsor since 2016 when the two entities got into a P3.6 million contract. The deal was renewed in 2020 with an increase to P4.5 million for another three years.

Speaking at a launch held this (Tuesday) morning, Stanbic Bank Botswana CEO, Chose Modise said the new partnership is evidence that the commercial bank has committed to the development of sport in the country.

He said the bank has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the local record league champions. 'Township Rollers is undoubtedly one of the best football clubs in the country but beyond that, we share common values.

With this partnership comes a lot of opportunities for the bank to make a positive impact on the members, the fans of Township Rollers, and the entire ecosystem.

As an organisation, we strongly believe that partnerships and collaborations are critical to driving meaningful and sustainable impact within our communities.' 'For the past years, we have been part of Botswana's growth story by supporting a few codes, football being one of them. This is an attestation of our unwavering effort to develop local sport.

Today, we are pleased that as Stanbic Bank Botswana we had the opportunity to leverage the sport of football and give back to the community through its development.

Our investment through our sponsorship of Township Rollers is P4.5 million over the term of the partnership,' Modise said. For his part, Rollers' president, Jagdish Shah said the partnership with Stanbic Bank has given Rollers an opportunity to grow the club. 'We have been able to double up so much more than when we were six years ago.

We have been able to achieve a lot on the platform on the field and outside. We were the first club to commercialise ourselves from society to a company. This was one of our first and biggest achievements by us; in technology, we have gone far beyond any other club in Botswana and not only in Botswana but in South Africa.' 'We have more than 300,000 followers on social media.

We have also doubled up in-house capabilities, in terms of in-house match day ticket printing. We have also doubled our internal resources with the promotion of Thabo Motang who has been a goalkeeper coach for more than 10 years, to a head coach,' Shah said.

In their six-year partnership with Stanbic Bank, Rollers has won the league title three times and also became the first local team to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League. Stanbic Bank has also had its fair input in local sport having to invest in sporting competitions such as Molapo Five-Aside, Botswana Sports Awards, CANA Swimming Championships, AM-600 Cycling Challenge, Stanbic Golf Tournament, Gaborone Diacore Marathon, and Morupule Coal Mine Cycling Challenge, among others. Popa has also launched a limited jersey to celebrate their milestone with Stanbic Bank.
