The trio of Melvin Moyo, Remington Masuku and forward Adam Tende was traveling to their residence in New Naledi from Notwane club house.

This was after the Notwane’s league match against VTM FC, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Narrating the story to Mmegi Sport, Masuku said the car they were traveling in, a Mazda 323 collided with a Honda Jazz by Nashua traffic lights just before 9pm.

“It was horrifying, the only thing I thought about was if my career was over or what. Everything happened so far. The last thing I saw was that Honda Jazz in the middle of the road then came in a loud bang.

I recall seeing the car we were in flying, only to be stopped by a sign in the middle of the road,” Masuku said.

He said luckily their car did not roll over and the only thing that came to their mind was how badly were they injured. “I blacked out, these guys (Masuku and Moyo) helped me out of the car. I did not see anything.

The thing I checked was if my legs were okay. You could see all of us jumping around to see if our legs were fine because from that moment that’s the thing that worried me a lot,” Tende said.

Tende and Masuku could be out for the reminder of the year as the recovery time is between two to four weeks. Masuku has 36 stitches on the left cheek while Tende has injuries on the lip, neck and on the shoulder.

The duo could sit out the reminder of the year and miss the enticing tie against Mochudi Centre Chiefs to be played on December 17.

“I feel for these guys because this is one of the games any player wants to be part of. I think the driver lost a kneecap, and he had just given us lift from the match, it is really, really sad.

But I would love to thank Notwane for the assistance they have given us since the accident. The support has been offered so that all we can do is to focus on the recovery,” Moyo said.

The three players were treated at Gaborone Private Hospital and discharged on the same evening.

Notwane will, in the meantime continue their charge towards promotion against Jwaneng Young Stars this afternoon at the Galaxy Stadium.
