The company this morning announced its partnership with the World Under 20 champion. The partnership will see Orange Botswana back Tebogo by providing financial support as part of the athlete’s growth in competitive sports. As such, Tebogo will be the face of Orange Botswana across its products and services offerings. According to a statement released by Orange Botswana through the collaboration with the athlete, the company recognise the importance of sports activities beyond unity and relationship strengthening. “Sports is becoming an increasingly important industry for economic diversification. It has resulted in the creation of jobs for youth and has also elevated Botswana to international prominence. For this reason, we are proud to always look for purposeful ways to support and empower the development of local skills and talent pool in our sports industry,” the statement reads.

A series of superb sprint performances saw Tebogo secure the spotlight at the World Athletics U20 Championships Cali 22. The 19-year-old set the tone with the world U20 100m record he achieved in the heats at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, clocking 9.94 to gain a place in the semifinals. Not willing to stop there, Tebogo then travelled to Colombia to defend his world U20 100m title and also race for top spot in the 200m after securing silver in Nairobi last year. He opened his campaign in style, running a 10.00 championship record in the 100m heats on the first day of action.

However, that record did not stand for long. The following day he returned to the track to retain his title in a blistering 9.91, improving his own world U20 record despite celebrating with 30 meters to go. Furthermore, Tebogo also capped his year by being among the nominees for the converted World Athletics Rising Star of the year award.
