Borrell, who is officially the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy as well as the Vice President of the European Commissioner, will visit the two countries between January 26 and 29.
“The visit will serve to strengthen the already positive EU-Botswana relationship, which is increasingly focussed on advancing green and digital transformation, as well as sustainable development and boosting EU investment in Botswana,” EU officials said in a statement. “A visit to a diamond factory is also planned.”
Besides meeting Kwape and Magosi, Borrell is due to visit the EU-funded Corridor Trip Monitoring System which facilitates cross-border transit.
In South Africa, Borrell attend the 15th South Africa-European Union Ministerial Political Dialogue and hold various engagements around issues of mutual interest between the two including the launch of Team Europe’s “A Just and Green Recovery for South Africa”.
