Rain threatens softball schedule

The downpour pushed the game to this morning (Friday 10am) meaning the team would be forced to play three to four games.
The national team coach, Phibion Tawina told MmegiOnline that playing three games in a day will be difficult for the players, let alone four. “We might end up playing four games because it depends on the results.
We do not think that our game against South Africa is important because it is only meant to determine positions one and two. Already those two positions belong to both of us. It would have been better if we proceeded to play the position one and two matches instead of completing the round-robin game,” he said.
Tawina said it would be ideal if they played that game. If they won it, they would proceed to the final, and if they lost, they would play the winner between positions three and four, then off to the final.
This would mean they will play three games, but if the match against South Africa goes ahead, then it would be four. Yesterday, however, was a good day in the office for Botswana senior women after winning.
Only two teams will proceed to the group stages of the Women’s Softball World Cup scheduled for July in Spain and Italy. Lesotho remains the only country that has not scored a run since the competition started.
