BFL to unveil new CEO

The BFL was left without a CEO after Solomon Ramochotlhwane was forced to resign in October. Following pressure from the board, Ramochotlhwane had no option but to leave office.
Operations manager, Patrick Motsepe has been holding fort since Ramochotlhwane’s departure. The BFL has been on a recruitment drive, which saw local candidates, Olebile Sikwane and Tiro Kganela enter the race but fall by the wayside.
Former Multichoice CEO, Billy Sekgororoane was said to be in the running, and despite his impressive resume, he reportedly failed to make the grade as he is viewed as ‘too outspoken’ by football’s top authorities.
Mbatha was then recruited as the man to lead BFA for 12-months on a consultancy basis, with a local to understudy him. The South African is expected to bring a wealth of experience from South Africa and Tanzania but will be tested on the local front where many before him departed unceremoniously. The BFL will unveil Mbatha during a press conference to be held at Lekidi Centre tomorrow.
Mbatha takes over at a time calls for wider revenue streams for the BFL have been amplified. The BFL has struggled to secure a title sponsor, and only last week, Absa Bank had to come to the rescue with a P1, 7million package, a move that attracted mixed reviews.
