Ribcrackers thrill audience

Despite the show starting almost an hour later than the scheduled time, it was worth the wait for the audience who graced the event. The show, which was headlined by Kasane-based comedian Vha L, was organised by the Gaborone Comedy Club.
“How horny can one be to name a village after goat tits?” it was all it took for local comedian, Depay TML from Francistown to set the house and alight and leave the audience into uncontrollable laughter.
The comedian’s joke was in relation to what he terms as the weirdness of Setswana names such as Mabeleapodi, a village in the Central District as well as some words, which he says do not make sense to him. “Setswana words and names are just off the charts. They are just unnecessary to an extent that sometimes I even ask myself what these people wanted to achieve with these weird word. You’ll be there watching the weather news and the reader will be like ‘go ta tsoga go le mololo, like what the hell is mololo?” Depay TML’s jokes set the house alight as everyone was left in stitches. Another comedian, Thapelo Malani also did his bit to tickle the audience.
His were somehow very real jokes. He joked about his disability, life hardships and how life has become so tough nowadays. Being blind, he jokingly said he is able to live on a P20 electricity voucher the whole month because he doesn’t need to have to switch on the lights. Known comedians such as Triccs, Bambino and Johny Pula also did their bit to continue the fun in the house. Bambino joked about the local churches while Triccs joked about how being a Motswana can limit one to progress in life.
The show also saw two young comedians, Makopoza and Spheto, take the stage. For novices, their sets were impressive and could be ones to look out for in the future after some polishing. Makopoza passed jokes about the crazy stories of Molepolole village. The main attraction Vha L left the audience thrilled when he shared a joke about his first time experience of ‘Woman On Top’ sex position’. He made funny demonstrations and gimmicks about the whole experience. “I have been stuck with the same girl who I don’t want anymore because I fear what she would tell the world about that day. Every time I pass her in the mall she would scream, ‘I f***d this comedian until he farted’. All in all it was a fun-filled show that left the audience thrilled throughout.
