The queens who were chosen at the Mister and Miss Little Botswana pageantry grand finale from four different categories include Toto Miss Queendeline Motshabi, Mini Miss Arefa Motingwa, Miss Pre Teen Jessica Jack and Miss Little Botswana Tumelo Mmolotsi.

In an interview with Mister and Miss Little Botswana director Gaonyafelwe Phuti, she said the girls were ready to scoop the international crowns as they had been having intensive rehearsals in Gaborone for the past three weeks.

“With the three weeks rehearsals, I believe the girls are well prepared. They are going to showcase their talents; national costumes to show other African countries the Setswana traditional wear. They will also showcase local foods and dance.

Our trip was self sponsored and we therefore ask the public to assist us in future because it had not been easy for us to come here,” she said. Furthermore, Gaonyafelwe explained that Little Mister and Miss Africa was a continental children’s competition that aims at appreciating and promoting the rich and diverse African culture, promoting African tourism and creating a networking platform for all children in Africa. She said the pageantry organisers believe Africa should be a one whole happy village to all its children hence hosting the pageant.

The local contestants will be battling for the crowns against fellow beautiful and talented young girls from nine other African countries including SA, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Kenya, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Gaonyafelwe said they went early because contestants had to arrive a week before the crowning night so that they could get ready for the production through rehearsals, photo shoot and so that they could be taken through presentation and confidence building sessions. She added that the girls will be enjoying activities such as pajama party, friendship night, talent night, dancing, swimming and inland trips in SA. She added that the winners would walk away with $800 per category.
