The band has this year promised to take the notch a little higher as they take the patrons down the memory lane with performances from their hit songs. The event will be held at Maitisong Theatre in Gaborone This year, the event will also mark a launch for the multi-award-winning contemporary folk band’s first ever Botswana tour as they celebrate their eighth anniversary. “We are going to take the Natives down memory lane, playing all of the songs from the three albums that we have released so far.

It will be a journey from the first time they fell in love with the unique native vibes like Robete and Thaa Kokome to the present day modern classics like Petere,” said the band leader and founder, Tomeletso Sereetsi.

Sereetsi said they have a few surprise acts in store to share the stage with on the night. He said the Sereetsi & The Natives show is a celebration of love music and great musicianship. He said the band has an A-list team of musicians and dancers to make it a night to remember for the patrons. “We have also set plans in motion to take the tour across the region by the end of the year.

The event will therefore celebrate an important milestone. This will further be a celebratory concert marking eight years of Sereetsi & The Natives in the recording industry.

It was in this month eight years ago that the world was introduced to the native rhythms of Sereetsi & The Natives,” he added. He said the band is building up to the 10th anniversary which will be an even bigger celebration. He said they already have dates lined up for performances in Serowe (My Destiny Gardens) and Maun (Okavango Craft Brewery) on May 19 and 20 respectively. “More dates will be announced in due course.

We encourage natives to come in numbers to celebrate with us and see the band off to the tour. In addition, this year's edition is a closer to the Maitisong Festival,” he said. Reflecting on their eight year in the industry, Sereetsi stated that it has been a dream come true and a blessing after another. He stated that they have built, together with the natives, a big respectable and growing brand that has played at some of the biggest stages at home and internationally.
