Known as “On the Go by Choppies” the partnership has already yielded two stores strategically located at the Boatle interchange complex and at the Mahalapye Puma Energy service station by the entrance to the village.
The partnership between the two groups provides the strategic location of Puma service stations to the easy shopping of Choppies, the country’s largest retail chain. Puma has 43 sites across the country, while Choppies has 95 stores.
Speaking at the launch of the Boatle “One the Go by Choppies” recently, Choppies regional manager, Phenyo Molebatsi said joining forces with a giant like Puma Energy is a clear indication of the shopping giant’s continuous efforts to bring forth innovative and convenient services to Batswana.
“On the Go by Choppies comes at a time where customers desperately require quick, high quality and affordable goods on a daily basis particularly commuters using the A1 to and from work on a daily basis, hence why it was named “On the Go,” he said.
For his part, Dominic Dhanah, managing director of Puma Energy Botswana, noted that the collaboration and initiative aligns with Puma Energy’s purpose of energising communities to drive growth and prosperity in markets we operate in.
“This initiative is in line with our expansion strategy to make it convenient for our customers to access quality products and services across the country at relatively affordable prices across our retail sites,” he said. “Our ambitions do not stop here and we are committed to Botswana and her people. “This new shop is the beginning of many more shops and initiatives in the pipeline like the recently launched Puma branded lubricants and significantly increasing footprint in Botswana, from 43 sites to 46 in 2023, with more planned for the next coming years.”
For his part, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Lefoko Moagi, applauded Puma Energy Botswana and Choppies for the new store development which he said brings employment opportunities for the youth of the Boatle/Ramotswa area.
He encouraged both companies to grow their partnership to add more similar stores across the country as this will be beneficial to the socio-economic landscape of the country.
Moagi also implored the staff to pride themselves on offering excellent customer service and to continue upholding the two companies’ visible representation of professionalism and values in all their business activities as this will retain customers and bring in new business.
