Mandla Spikiri to thrill King Jagaban Lounge

Mandla Spikiri, a founding member of popular South African Kwaito group, Trompies will remind local revellers why he is one of the pioneers of the music and take them down memory lane with some of the group’s yesteryear hits.
This time though, the iconic Kwaito star will not be in the company of other Trompies members, but serve Kwaito local revellers a full bouquet of kwaito hits as a solo artist and also Trompies songs during an event titled Winter Session with Mandla Spikiri. With a new wave of music genre currently dominating the music events, it will be an opportunity for deep-rooted Kwaito enthusiasts to have fun the best way they know how during while watching the performance of one of their celebrated icons. The Kwaito legend last year released an exciting collaboration on new single Ta nala (Come here) that features Kwetsa as well as Amapaino duo Reece Madlisa and Zuma.
The event promoter, Thabiso Molebatsi of TGM Entertainment and Boutique told Arts & Culture that the event is a Kwaito session meant to celebrate Mandla Spikiri’s work as a producer, artist and Kalawa jazmee founder and director. Molebatsi said they also want to recognise the work that he has done for over 30 years in the music industry while he remained relevant and making hits. “So it’s another way of catching up with the old golden days of Kwaito era,” Molebatsi said. The promoter said revellers should come prepared for a treat of Kwaito music throughout the night. Mandla Spikiri will not perform alone as there are other South African (SA) and local artists in the line.
These include 2.5, DJ Floza (SA), Kazi Q and DJ Chili Baba from Duma fm. “They should expect fireworks and thrilling performance from Mandla Spikiri and other Kwaito artists in Botswana as this is a pure Kwaito event catering for everyone who loves Kwaito music,” he said. Molebatsi said they have received positive response from music enthusiasts thus far as many people are eager to see Mandla Spikiri perform as a solo artist and perform hits such as Endofaya, money talks Moriri wa maIndia, Ta nala and others.
Botswana’s hottest upcoming MC, Babe Police will be the event host. Furthermore, he stated they expect a full house at the 1,000 capacity King Jagaban Lounge venue. Tickets for the show are selling at P80 general, P250 VIP and P350 VVIP. Molebatsi said the VVIP ticket entails a wide range of drinks from soft drinks, whiskey to gin which are normally good for the winter season. He stated that they will also be selling Mandla Spikiri merchandise at the event. The event is organised by TGM Entertainment and Boutique, a music events, recording and also clothing company (Pantsula outfit and smart casual).
