VTM lost the position they held for the past few weeks after going down 1-0 to Matebejana on Saturday at the Holy Ghost Park. It was VTM’s first loss since the return of head coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso. The Gamononyane-based side now face the danger of missing out even on a play-off position. The defeat to Matebejana saw them drop to position three. A point separates them and log leaders, City Polar as well as second placed Matebele. Interestingly, only one point separates the top four sides in the league. City Polar currently lead the pack with 41 points after their 6-0 win over Black Rangers on Saturday.
They now have it in their hands and a comfortable victory this weekend could see them make history and gain promotion to the elite league for the first time. Only a goal difference of two goals separate them from second placed side, Matebele FC. They (City Polar) end the season against Matebejana who have just caused an upset against VTM. Matebele kept their chances alive when they beat stubborn Young Stars 1-0 away in Jwaneng. They are currently breathing heavily on City Polar’s back with only a goal difference separating them at the top. A victory will most definitely secure a play-off position for them if they fail to finish at the top this weekend.
They face Mochudi Centre Chiefs in what is expected to be a cracking Kgatleng derby. VTM, who blew their chance this past weekend, can still turn it around if they beat Broadhurst United on Saturday, provided that City Polar, Matebele FC and Notwane drop points in their last matches. Notwane beat Union Flamengo Santos 3-0 on Saturday at the SSG ground.
They are currently sitting at position four on the log standings but only a point separates them and log leaders, City Polar. They face Black Forest in the last match of the season.
