The event, held at the Game City Rooftop Parkade, got its first blow on the eve of the day after South African artist, Njelic pulled out. On Saturday, three performers, Mas Musiq, Daliwonga and Felo Le Tee did not show up for their scheduled performances.
The event also received negative reception from the ‘groovists’ as a number took to social media to complain about steep beverage prices and stringent cooler boxes rules. However on the day, the venue was packed to near capacity just at prime time. Revellers went all out to match the all black theme while the energy was undoubted.
The man of the moment, Kabza De Small jumped on stage just before the hour mark to deafening cheers and applause for the groove enthusiasts. As many would have expected, the DJ and producer gave the fans a taste of his upcoming projects.
He could not resist mixing it up with some of the AmaPiano timeless hits songs like Abalele and Mas Musiq’s Sengizilwe were the most sang along in the three hour long playlist.
Kabza De Small definitely took the notch a bit higher on the night as the crowd burnt the dance floor with Tiktok famed dance moves. Earlier on, Myztro made a name for himself with a nicely tuned set. The DJ and producer won the crowd with the ‘Tiktok music’ inspired set as he also played songs from his latest project.
His most popular song ‘Tobetsa’ melted the venue down as the youthful crowd yearned for more. On his debut in Botswana, Beyond Music jazzed it down with some soulful piano setting up the tone for the line-up performances. Notable performances also came from hip hop DJ, Success SA and Spumante on his coming to local shores.
The event was organised by local event management company, Dark Knights Events in partnership with Piano Hub Studios. Despite the earlier scares, the show had arguably the best sound in recent times while the stage and lightning were up to par.
