The accused, Lillian Moakole, allegedly murdered Donald Matlhare, 47, of Tonota village following a misunderstanding.

Magistrate Game Mooketsi granted Moakole bail on conditions that she pays P2,000, bring two sureties who shall each pay P1,000, report herself once every month at the Tatitown Police Station.

Equally, she is to attend court as and when required to do so and not be reasonably suspected of having committed any offence whilst on bail. Moakole allegedly stabbed Matlhare, an employee of Francistown City Council (FCC), on his neck with a knife while he was asleep.

It was reported the couple had argued earlier in the day, at which point the unemployed Moakole reportedly left to go drinking. It is alleged that when she returned to her Bluetown home at around 2:30am, she found Matlhare asleep and stabbed him to death.

During her initial court appearance, the public gallery which was filled to the brim by residents of Bluetown and the Matlhare’s fellow workers, heard that the accused was in the habit of verbally and physically abusing the deceased.

The prosecution applied for Moakole to be kept in custody as their investigations were at initial stages. Then, Moakole did not apply for bail telling the court that she was shocked by what transpired.
