Even though the event started off on a low note, the BTC Choir from Sesung ignited the spark with their beautiful performance. They also sang a song about the importance of preserving culture.

In the choir, there was a certain gentleman who kept playing with a whip making an intense whipping sound that caught the eyes of the lookers. He made the performance even more interesting.

However, when an Afro Pop musician, Ashley Gops, who is also the headman of arbitration for the Baretele tribe of Bakgalagadi at Goo-Moiphisi in the village got on stage, all the old and the young flocked to the stage, danced and sang along.

The villagers were very excited when he served them with his songs more especially ‘Sebakanyana,’ a song he said opened doors for him in the local music industry.

While the community was trying to recover from their kgosi’s beautiful performance, a local traditional dance and song group, Dipela tsa ga Kobokwe also made sure they left their footprint in revellers’ hearts with their unforgettable performance.

Entering the stage, one of the men walked as a baboon and was later joined by the crew which served the audience with beautiful dance and song performances. Even though he has not been active in the industry for a long time, the traditional dance music star, Segomotso Nkgomo also famed as Kgobola took the audience down memory lane with his songs.

During his performance, a double amputee man who has no legs but danced, passionately joined him. His ability to show one or two dance moves won revellers’ hearts as they showered the pair with some money. Boikwatlhao Mabori recited a beautiful poem. Just like the choir, he made sure that his poem was about promoting the rich Setswana culture and transferring it to the upcoming generations.

In his poem, he talked of how much it was important for Batswana to appreciate their culture and sell it to other nations. He also praised the Minister of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture Tumiso Rakgare for his endless efforts in ensuring that the Setswana culture was celebrated and preserved. To seal the day’s celebration, Dr Vom did what he does best.

With the same songs and the same outfit, he was able to get everyone dancing including the Minister to his Tsaya Thobane hit. He also asked everyone off the stage where he asked the choir and Mahupu Unified Secondary School Band to join him in dancing and singing his other songs such as Tlhabano and Molepolole. Mahupu Unified Secondary School that had everyone entertained all along decided to close down the event with a very energetic and beautiful performance and played and sang songs like Nomvula by a South African artist, Nathi.
