BNSC warms hearts of Kavimba pupils

The donation coincided with the commemoration of Day of the African Child. The BNSC chairman, Marumo Morule said the Board travelled to Chobe to reflect, re-energise, gather thoughts and chart the way forward in order to take Botswana sport forward.
“We never want to miss an opportunity to plant a seed in the places we visit. It is our corporate responsibility to fulfil our civic duty by ensuring that we plough back to the society in one way or the other,” he said. Morule also said as sport, they play an integral role in grooming a child, they have raised children, will continue to raise more children and the majority coming from the Chobe region.
He said Kavimba Primary School were the champions of the 2007 Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) mini national volleyball festival that was held in Selebi-Phikwe.
He added that in 2008, one of the pupils was part of the athletics team that competed in Eswatini. “The Japan International Cooperation (JICA) has also left their mark in Kavimba Primary School by building a classroom for pre-school students in 2016 and it has been operational since 2017. These efforts by different organisations in giving back to the community are a clear indication of the love and care we have for our society regardless of the region, district, nor corner of the country,” Morule said.
He said sport brings people together, promotes good behaviour for a better society and discourages young people from engaging in social ills. Morule said the nation is facing serious challenges of social ills by young people engaging in substance abuse. “We all need to come together with mitigation majors of which one of the key remedies is promotion of sport.
At the BNSC we have gone further to have Centres of Excellence in selected areas of the country to give high performing youth the opportunity to be closer to the necessary equipment and infrastructure for their skills development in sport,” he said.
