The discussion forum is themed ‘Strengthening Cross-Border Quality Assurance Collaboration in Higher Education: A BOU-UNISA Perspective’.

This initiative is facilitated by the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA), a unit of BOU responsible for quality assurance-related matters, and the Department of Quality Assurance and Enhancement which is also responsible for institutional quality assurance and enhancement within UNISA.

Director-Centre for Teaching, Learning and Quality Assurance, Dr Phineas Sebopelo explained that “given the common goal the two units are responsible for at their respective institutions and their drive to leverage existing knowledge and resources, the units have found it worthwhile to collaborate to enhance and promote quality between their institutions”.

He said the two institutions during the discussion forum will share the latest innovations in quality assurance in Higher Education, develop and strengthen collaboration and partnership between the two institutions, formalise the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions, and establish a BOU-UNISA scholarship for quality assurance in Higher Education. Sebopelo elaborated that the MOU that was signed between the two institutions expired in 2017.
