Two ladies die from their own concoction

In an interview with Mmegi, Goitsemodimo Molapisi who is the Superintendent at Shakawe police station revealed the details of the mishap that took place at Gani. He indicated that the two women who met their demise were on a mission to ascertain a traditional tree that they could use.
The Superintendent revealed that the two deceased wanted to make a concoction for themselves that they could use to cleanse themselves.
Upon hearing this, Molapisi stated that they took it upon themselves to ascertain what had really transpired. “On June 20, we received a call from Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital informing us of a situation they have in their hands where two women were suspected to have administered concoctions. And immediately we started doing our investigations and during the course of our investigations we found out that the duo were not alone as they were three but the other one had survived,” Molapisi said.
Molapisi further revealed that in their investigations, the third woman aged 27 years cooperated with them and told them what took place.
“The third woman who survived told us that after finding the traditional tree, they went back home to boil it and ended up drinking the concoction made from that tree,” he said. He further added that the survivor revealed to them that immediately after they all drank the concoction they all became sick but the conditions of the deceased deteriorated faster.
The three women were then rushed to the nearest clinic while the other two were transferred to the Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital where one of them took her last breath. Meanwhile, the other one took her last breath upon arrival at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital after she was referred by Letsholathebe with her condition worsening. The two passed on June 20 while the third one was discharged at the clinic as it appeared, she had not consumed much of the concoction.
Molapisi indicated that they are still waiting for the postmortem results from one of the corpses whose family cooperated with the police to do so after the other family refused to let the police do a postmortem.
Meanwhile, Molapisi also revealed that no one will be charged. “This is self-inflicted therefore, no one will be charged even the survivor. We will just treat this like we treat suicide cases,” he expressed.
